This jasmine green is recognized as perhaps China’s finest jasmine offering. The tender first bud and two leaves are plucked in early spring to be made into this soft green tea. When the jasmine flowers come into bloom, the fresh tea leaves are layered with the freshly picked blossoms. The jasmine flower is harvested in the morning whereas the scenting will take place in the evening when the harvested flowers open up. The pearls are then refired, drying them in order to remove the flowers moisture. The tea is then rolled into beautiful tight spirals, which unfurl as they steep to release their divine aroma and naturally sweet, fresh bouquet of flavour. The consuming fragrance of jasmine is absorbed by the tea, resulting in a gorgeous, floral cup.

Tasting Notes: The sweetness of the fresh jasmine lingers on the nose reminding the senses of freshly picked daisies in the spring. Shade-grown for 21 days before harvesting with the tunnel shading method to preserve the chlorophyll in the tea leaves - after being mechanically harvested and quickly steamed, the leaves are a deep and vibrant green, leading to a bright green cup during steeping.

Tasting Notes: The epitome of a high-quality, classic umami. The nose is quite vegetal, with a sweet undertone. The texture of the cup is quite thick and creamy, the flavour surprisingly reminiscent of cooked legumes. When prepared with the Japanese brewing style, there is no astringency at all to the steep, which is a nearly opaque jade colour. The linger is smooth and lengthy, and the cup is filling. Soil fertility and distinctive wet and dry seasons in this area of Cangyuan combines to provide tea with high polyphenol and catechin content. This Pu-erh was caked in Spring 2019: comprised of 357g of pressed, texture-rich shades of brown, green, and silver medium buds and large leaves.
