Canadian Spring Flush 2025

Canadian Spring Flush 2025

This year, we are celebrating 15 Years of growing Canadian Tea.

Time flies when you’re having fun - or should we say, when you’re experimenting with growing + harvesting 800+ camellia sinensis plants in a temperate rainforest on an island in Canada.

We planted our first tea bushes in 2010, adding to our business of importing fine organic teas and blending original recipe teas and tisanes. “ I am self taught as a tea grower and tea maker. I learned through experimentation (mostly failure emerging into some success) as I didn’t study with others somewhere else. There being no benchmark in Canada to follow, I paved my own way.” - Victor Vesely, owner + tea maker of Westholme Tea Company. Mentoring came to the farm in the form of curious and interested growers from around the world who shared constructive critique, advice and support.

This has allowed the line of Canadian grown teas that we offer to flourish and evolve into what you know today as our line of green, roasted green, black and white teas.

Today marks the release of our first Spring flush of 2025 and we are so excited for you to taste it. Raise a cup with us to celebrate 15 years of growing tea + tea culture in the Cowichan Valley and beyond! We are excited for more adventures to come.

Enjoying June in full bloom here at Westholme with this welcoming, delicate and hospitable organic Chinese green tea...

Jasmine Golden Dragon is our June Tea of the Month.

Fujian Province is home to China’s finest jasmine teas. The green tea destined to become jasmine tea is harvested early spring, then processed and stored until summer arrives and the jasmine vines start to blossom. Jasmine Golden Dragon combines a delicate, smooth green tea with the perfect amount of jasmine for a well-balanced cup. This tea is soft in its steep, yet flavourful, resulting in an elegant cup with an attractive lingering bouquet and a gentle astringency.

Tasting Notes:

A fine balance between the bouquet offered by the jasmine blossom and the grassy, fresh notes of green tea. Flavourful and soft on the palate, especially with a shorter steep time. A gentle, astringent build finishes with lingering floral freshness.

Brewing Instructions:

2g of Jasmine Golden Dragon per cup, pour 90ºC water over leaves, steep 2 - 3 minutes. Re-steep as desired!

Enjoy 10% OFF Jasmine Golden Dragon all June long!
