October Showers Bring Tea Flowers

The early mornings, with frost lightly blanketing the grasses and amber leaves beginning to collect under our feet, have made us all crave a warming cup of tea filled with comforting spices. While we may all agree that we consistently enjoy Masala Chai here at Westholme, it has quickly become a much more prominent routine in our fall days while we stamp bags, blend teas and support you on your tea journey in the Teashop.
Our favourite recipe this time of year is cooked masala chai, the perfect sweet and spicy cup of comfort to carry you through your fall days ...
Make the Perfect Cooked Masala Chai
Use 1 teaspoon (2-3 grams) of Masala Chai per 1 cup (250ml) of liquid. When adding water and milk together, combine in a 1:1 ratio. For example, if using 1 cup of water, use 1 cup of milk. This recipe makes 2-3 servings of tea.
:: Ingredients ::
- 2 cups of water
- 2 cups of milk of your choice
- 4 teaspoons of Westhome's Masala Chai (or any other Westholme Chai of your choosing)
:: Directions ::
Measure water and tea into a pot on the stovetop. Bring to a gentle boil for 3-5 minutes. Reduce heat and add the milk of your choice. Bring back just to a boil, then reduce immediately to a simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain, sweeten if desired, and enjoy!
Use the same method for Westholme's Golden Chai, Golden Spice, and Pure Spice tisanes to make a caffeine-free Golden Milk tea.
Enjoy!
