Houjicha Blueberry Latte

A delicious light, nutty, sweet latte with very low caffeine content.

Prepare a blueberry compote 

  • Combine 1 cup of the blueberries, 2tbsp (or desired sweetness amount) maple syrup or honey, 2 tbsp water, and 1/2 tsp vanilla in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add the remaining 1 cup blueberries and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat. The mixture will become thick and jammy as it cools.

Prepare a Houjicha Latte

  • Sift 2-3g (1 tsp) Houjicha Powder per 75ml (1/4 cup).

  • Pour 1 tsp of 80ºC water over Houjicha Powder.

  • Whisk Houjicha Powder and 1 tsp water to a paste. Add remaining water and whisk until frothed - using more or less powder depending on flavour preference.

Create the Houjicha Blueberry Latte

  • Scoop 4-6 teaspoons of blueberry compote into each cup 

  • Fill glass with ice cubes

  • Pour desired amount of milk or milk alternative 

  • Pour Houjicha tea overtop 

  • Stir + Enjoy!
