TEA OF THE WEEK :: BI LUO CHUN premium
:: Bi Luo Chun ::
Bi Luo Chun is an exquisite green tea from Jiangsu Province in China. Bi Luo Chun translates literally to ‘Green Snail Spring,’ a name befitting the lush, subtropical tea growing regions that this province boasts, especially around Taihu Lake in the Dongting region where Bi Luo Chun is harvested.
The Kangxi Emperor named the tea for its appearance; during processing, it is rolled into tight green ‘snail’ spirals. Bi Luo Chun grew in popularity during the Ming Dynasty, and is now among China’s top-ten famous teas.
The steep of this premium Bi Luo Chun brings out a bright, delicate golden-green liqueur. The aroma of the cup is the epitome of an elegant springtime bouquet; it smells faintly of fruit blossoms, honeysuckle, and a touch of fresh morning dew. The aroma translates to the palate of the steep; a full and beautiful flavour which lingers at the back of the tongue with a whisper of astringency. The grassy aspects of its flavour build in the cup as it sits, but never become overpowering. Instead, this acts to highlight the floral aspect of the steep, completing the lush garden with a grounding, gentle base on which to meander.
Calming, refreshing, and a delight to sip - especially on a bare-foot afternoon stroll through your garden at home.
Enjoy!
