The world of tea is vast and there is no shortage of match making combinations that one could explore when it comes to tea and food pairings. A pot of delicious tea can complement and enhance the flavours of any dish – from savoury to sweet.
 
There are innumerable types of tea that all come from the one and only tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and even more ways to enjoy tea! Tea is ancient, yet ever-evolving.  Just as there is no ‘right’ way to drink tea, there is no one way to pair tea with food.
 
All around the world, tea and food are paired in different ways - gathering around food and tea for occasions both large and small + lavish and simple. Sometimes there are practical reasons, for example Oolong teas and Pu-erh teas are known to aid in digestion. Other times, there are more traditional reasons, for example pure Matcha is enjoyed alongside sweets during Japanese Tea Ceremonies. In other locations, Black teas are swirled with yak butter to create a meal on its own.
