Description: This gift set is the perfect balance - two naturally fragrant and differently processed Oolong teas, accompanied by a set of Margit's hand-built ceramic Aroma cups.
The Fragrance or Aroma Cup is said to have been invented in the 1970's in Taiwan as a way to further integrate appreciation of the aroma of tea into tea drinking, and to bolster the consumption of locally-grown teas. Aroma Cups are now sometimes used as part of Chinese Gongfu or Kung fu Tea Ceremonies - the elegant and thorough preparation, presentation, and consumption of tea (it translates literally to 'Making Tea with Skill'). Though aroma had already been an incredibly important component of tea ceremony and tea drinking for thousands of years, the invention of the aroma cup was made to fit seamlessly alongside the Gongfu ceremonial teacup set as another integral tool to pushing tea appreciation further.
The aroma cup set and two gift tins of tea are beautifully packaged in a hand-stamped kraft box, ready for gifting (to others, or to yourself).
Uses: The tea is poured into the aroma cup first, then poured from the aroma cup into the wider, shorter drinking cup. Due to the tall size and small lip of the fragrance cup, it holds the aroma of the tea without exposing the natural fragrance to too much air, allowing the drinker to smell the tea’s natural perfume between sips. The aroma will continue to develop and change during the duration of tea drinking, and between the tea’s various steeps, so be sure to keep sniffing!
1x Aroma Cup Set (hand-built ceramic, colours will vary and will be selected by Margit, the Clay Maker)
1x Small Gold Gift Tin Limited Harvest Dark Roasted Oolong
1x Small Gold Gift Tin Light Green Ti Kwan Yin Oolong
Aroma Cup (approximate): Height : 9cm Width : 4cm
Drinking Cup (approximate): Height : 5.5cm Width : 5.5cm
Small Tins: Each small tin contains between 10 - 25 grams of loose tea (or approximately 1/4 cup). For most of our teas and tisanes, we suggest 2g of loose tea / cup of water, so a small tin will provide around 5 - 20 cups of tea (or a generous pot or two of tea to share) depending on the weight and density of the contents. These Oolong teas are also excellent for re-steeping.
The organic teas we import are artisanally farmed and crafted. They may change with each harvest season. The same tea harvested at a different time of year and processed by a different tea maker will vary slightly in flavour and finish.
