CAFE OF THE WEEK :: Bear & Joey
Bear & Joey is a vibrant neighbourhood meeting hub on Cook Street in Victoria, nestled on the border of Downtown and Fairfield. This café offers a fun and youthful interpretation of Sydney’s café culture. They have combined elevated ambiance, an interesting menu, and true hospitality to contribute to a relaxing guest experience.
The casual, yet elegant space is perfect for gathering, socializing, hosting events, or just simply enjoying wholesome take away meals. Have your morning Westholme tea to-go! They have modified their services to accommodate these interesting times to still offer intimate and interactive events. They create honest & wholesome dishes, keeping dietary accommodations and seasonality in mind with fresh, local ingredients. Keep an eye out for seasonal menu offerings and featured dishes showcasing what the Island has to offer!
Bear & Joey was a start-up just before the pandemic. They are leaders in a campaign calling on the government to provide financial supports for small local start-ups like them who are not considered eligible for the same rent and wage subsidies as their industry peers. Many new businesses were financially committed to their projects prior to any forced lockdowns and have been impacted just as our other small local businesses have been, yet have not received the same support. Learn more about how you can help them and other small start-ups by visiting their page or www.savestartups.ca
