June Tea of the Month
Bengal is our feature tea for the entire month of June.
Blended at Westholme Tea Company using organic black pekoe teas from India, Sri Lanka and China, Calendula Petals, Cinnamon, Ginger and Orange Peel, this large leaf black tea offers a smooth and balanced base with clear malted notes, making it the perfect option for a sweet, refreshing cup of iced tea.
Directions on making your very own iced Bengal at home...
:: Ingredients ::
- 1/4 cup of Westholme Bengal tea
- 6 cups of filtered water
- 1/4 cup of raw honey
** We used our local Hardie Honey (which you can pick up in our Teashop) although any good quality, unpasteurized honey will do.
:: Instructions ::
- Combine loose tea leaves and water in a pot.
- Heat to below boiling (~90°C) then remove from heat to let cool.
- Stir in the honey once the temperature has dropped below 60°C - this preserves the beneficial qualities of the honey which are destroyed at higher temperatures.
- Strain the tea leaves.
- Refrigerate and serve chilled. Enjoy!
:: Optional Ideas ::
You can add milk (or a milk alternative of your choice) for an iced latte.
OR Try making ice cubes from steeped tea to preserve the strength of your chilled cup!
:: Did you know? Tiger, a tea from our Chinese Zodiac collection, is the same blend as Bengal!
