Simple Syrup Recipes to Delight
Recently, our team was prompted to create something truly unique and flavourful to serve our guests attending the Vancouver Island Symphony shows here at the Westholme gardens in North Cowichan, BC.
Carefully choosing only ingredients we use in our handmade, small-batch tea and tisane blends, our blender developed these two delicious simple syrups that can be added to any tea or herbal of your choosing. After many questions about the teas from our guests and even the artist from the symphony, we are more than happy to share the recipes with you below!
Rose + Mint Simple Syrup
- 7 grams of dried Mint
- 12 grams of dried rose petals
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1 1/2 cup of sugar
Orange + Rosemary Simple Syrup
- 12 grams of dried rosemary
- 20 grams of dried orange peel
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
* Place dried herb ingredients in a French Press and pour in water off the boil to steep the herbs. Once steeped for around 5-10 minutes, pour the liquid out of the press and into a pot to warm. Slowly stir in sugar until completely dissolved. Store in a sealed jar or container (preferably glass) for 2-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
You can use 1-3 pumps depending on how sweet you like your tea. This is the most incredible alternative to artificially sweetened teas you might find in the grocery store.
We personally enjoy the Rose + Mint with cold brewed Crimson (our July Tisane of the Month) and the Orange + Rosemary with cold brewed Black Raven for a new spin on a southern style sweet tea.
We are curious, which teas do you think might pair perfectly with these Simple Syrups?
