Description: Zhejiang is a tea-growing province on the Eastern coast of China. With the longest coastline of any province in the country, mountainous regions, to the west and south, subtropical climates and elevations suitable, Zhejiang grows one of China’s best-known teas.The region of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province is home to one of China’s most famous green teas – it was granted the status of Imperial Tea during the Qing Dynasty. The leaves are pan roasted very soon after harvest to stop the oxidation process and preserve the fresh-plucked colour of the leaves. Part of the tea’s transformation involves hand-pressing the leaves against the pan, giving the tea its characteristic flat appearance.
Tasting Notes: The perfume of the tea is sweet, with a flavour to match. Vegetal, almost grassy notes accompany each sip, leading to a soft and toasty linger on the palate akin to fresh steamed rice.
Brewing Instructions: 2g per cup. 100ºC water. steep 3-5 minutes.
